We improved the direct-vision-comparison method through revising the calculation formula of the magnification of a Kepler telescope combined with experimental verification． The improved method allows the experimenter to accurately measure the magnification of the self-assembled telescope when the object distance is short，which solved the problem of limited experimental space and limited observation distance of the human eye encountered by students in the experiment．
